Director · Violin and viola · Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat
Silverio plays violin and viola and runs the school. He teaches the Saturday string sectional and keeps in touch with school orchestra directors, when a family asks him to. He speaks Spanish with families who prefer it.
Trumpet · Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat
Cyrus teaches trumpet, from a first buzz on the mouthpiece to the lead parts in a high school jazz band. He co-teaches the Saturday brass sectional.
French horn · Tue, Wed, Sat
Matilda teaches French horn, an instrument that rewards a patient start. Her lessons spend time on listening, so a student can find the note before they play it.
Trombone, baritone and tuba · Tue, Thu, Sat
Benny teaches trombone, baritone and tuba. He co-teaches the Saturday brass sectional, where low brass players practice the parts that hold a band together.
Clarinet and saxophone · Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat
Chiyo teaches clarinet and saxophone, and she moves students between the two when a school band needs it. She co-teaches the Saturday woodwind sectional.
Flute, oboe and bassoon · Mon, Wed, Sat
Yomara teaches flute, oboe and bassoon, and she is the person to ask about reeds. She speaks Spanish with families who prefer it, and co-teaches the Saturday woodwind sectional.
Percussion · Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat
Boyang teaches snare drum, mallets and timpani, and leads the Saturday percussion sectional. His students learn the rudiments first and the whole percussion section after that.
Cello and bass · Mon, Wed, Sat
Nikia teaches cello and double bass. She co-teaches the Saturday string sectional, and she helps families check that an instrument is the right size before they rent or buy.
